The Phffft! Dance Theater Company fuses complex athletic partnering and daring lifts with a keen theatrical sense. This improvisational series flies, bounces, rolls and tumbles along in a festive choreography of giant balls and water. Accompanied by Chinese drums played by Byron Au Yong, the piece incorporates a surprise ending including audience participation. A hint: You won’t be left empty handed. Come and enjoy the colorful array of costumes, rubber balls and water cannons galore. Art for the pure fun of it!
The Phffft! Dance Company contrasts rigorous partnering and athletic movement with authentic human content to create emotionally moving dance that is both visually beautiful and physically demanding.
Since arriving in Seattle from New York in 2001, its’ programming has been seen throughout the West Coast and abroad by over 10,000 people with works ranging from undercover site-specific pieces that spring to life around unsuspecting audiences to staged full-length interdisciplinary productions.
