ARTSparks 2012
Flying Freeway
The most high-flying art experience Freeway Park has ever seen is on view through September 30. Hundreds of kites will wind their way through Freeway Park, surprising and delighting park-goers. In Seattle, one of the country’s most multicultural cities, these kites will spark an uplifting, cross-cultural and cross-generational experience. “Seattle Parks and Recreation believes art and culture are components of recreation for all ages, and serve the diverse recreation needs of our community.” - Seattle Parks and Recreation Department, Victoria Schoenburg
Event Notice: The Jim Ellis Freeway Park Association is presenting Noon Tunes, Concert for Kids, Sunday, August 26, 12-2pm. Kite building activities will be presented by Urban Art Concept.
Tossing the spark of art into the daily mix of downtown life, ARTSparks will bring temporary, site-specific art installations to Seattle's Occidental and Freeway Parks, summer 2012.
ARTSparks 2012 is produced by Urban Art Concept, is a partnership between Seattle Parks and Recreation, the Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs, and 4Culture, with support from the Downtown Seattle Association, the Jim Ellis Freeway Park Association, and the Seattle Parks Foundation. Urban Art Concept is an innovative art design team that encourages active community involvement in the creation of public art.
