Daniel Wend
History Made Life-Size
To help celebrate Des Moines’ 50th Birthday, Daniel Wend produced full-size cutout, colorized, photo-illustrations of 10 notable characters and figures from the town. The figures are all people that played a role in the development and history of Des Moines.
The figures appeared in the birthday kick-off event on June 18th and were a smash at the Des Moines Fourth of July Celebration. They were also around town, mingling with the locals and in the Birthday Celebration Parade on July 18th.
Dan graduated from Western Michigan University in 1979 and has lived in the Seattle area since 1982. During that time, he has held positions in corporate communications and marketing, while continuing to create art and develop his photographic skills. He started his own graphic design and advertising company, MediaGraphics which he ran from 1985 through 1995. Dan has punctuated his professional life with exploring the wilds of the west.
