PARKDance
PARKDance returns to Downtown Bellevue with its cast of highly athletic contemporary dancers flitting through, romping around, and transforming Bellevue’s Downtown Park with dance in unexpected places. Combining improvised and choreographed movement, dancers create vibrant moving images with simple gesture, large, full-bodied dancing, pedestrian movement and unexpected partnering – just for fun. PARKDance will be “in-residence” in the Park, performing from July 21-August 13, with rehearsals in the park beginning in late June. Each week’s performances are created anew, using both choreographed and improvised contemporary dance movement. Join the fun each week for a “new” dance as they add a dancer, change locations in the park and re-invent their score.
Based in Bellevue, WA just outside of Seattle, acornDance supports the creative work of movement artist, Aiko Kinoshita, including solo and group performance, creation of traditional and site-specific choreography; creative collaborations with other artists, teaching in community, professional and collegiate settings; and the production of shared performances with regional and visiting artists.
As a production company, acornDance encourages networking and collaboration between independent dance artists through shared ventures of formal and informal concerts of work, lecture-demonstrations, teaching, site-specific improvisational performances, and lecture demonstrations. Previous collaborators have included artists from Washington, Illinois, New York, San Francisco, Wisconsin, Taiwan, Japan and Korea. Projects have also toured to Illinois, Wisconsin, Korea and Japan.
